If you're looking to move, I highly recommend this.Īs with any new program, there is a learning curve - as the only major difference in functionality of DAWs is the workflow. It's indefinitely free to try, but also very cheap for a full license ($60 USD), which only removes the wait time at startup. REAPER is a full-featured DAW, and you won't find any as lightweight on any given system. The "painting" of loops works similarly in most linear DAWs nowadays, as well as the splitting, etc. I used it for years, and later alongside, and in conjunction with, FL Studio (along with trying out several others). ACID was my first DAW, back in 2002, so I can relate very well.
